Lorene “Rene” Grant Weller – March 16, 1924 – June 22, 2011 – passed away June 22nd at Brighton Gardens in Prairie Village, Kansas after having been under Hospice care for the last several months. Rene was born in Oklahoma and raised in Giddings, Texas. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor College, and lived most of her life in Mission Woods, Kansas. Rene was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved sailing and playing tennis.
Rene was the oldest of three girls born to the late Annie Mae and Claude Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. DeMuth and daughter, Gwen DeMuth Padget (Dave). She was also widowed by Forest Eherenman, and just two weeks ago by her husband of 32 years, Lloyd Wayne Weller. Rene was also preceded in death by her sister Nell Baker and survived by her sister Gloria SeQuin. Other survivors include: Two sons - Grant DeMuth (Claudette) of Guntersville, Alabama and Barry DeMuth (Debbie) of Warsaw, Indiana; step-son – Rick Weller (Susie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico and step-daughter – Courtney Fizer (John) of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren – Hillary DeMuth and Donald DeMuth of Kansas City, Patrick Padget (Jamie) of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Chris Padget of Kansas City; step-grandchildren – Jim and Rob Weller of Anchorage, Alaska and Brian Weller of Albuquerque, New Mexico and two great-grandchildren.
Rene’s friends and family will remember her as a generous, compassionate care-giver, for her special ability to stay in touch with the many friends she’d made throughout her life, her sweet spirit, tenacious courage and her the love of her favorite color - red. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25th at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local chapter of the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
