Lora Lee Killmer, beloved wife and mother, Leawood, Kansas passed away peacefully on Tuesday the 28th of August at Good Samaritan Center, Olathe, KS. Lora Lee was born February 26, 1919 to Johann Bonham and Ona B. Stone. She is survived by; her husband Riley A. Killmer of sixty two years (Leawood for fifty seven years ? now of Good Samaritan Center, Olathe) her sister, Selma O?Connor, her brother-in-law George Ulam; her sons and their wives: Craig and Christina Killmer, Kansas City, MO; Kent and Dana Killmer, Danville, CA; her daughter and her husband, Denise and Tim Olive, Roswell, GA and her grandchildren Colin, Christopher, Montana, and Stephanie Jo Killmer. Lora Lee also is survived by her grand daughter-in-law Jacqueline Killmer, step grandchildren Mathew and Amanda, two great grandchildren Samantha and Adrianna, and three step grandchildren, Connor, Asylinn and Aidan. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
Lora Lee was born in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Paseo High School in 1937, Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Paseo High with her three sisters, Mary, Selma and Signe. She was particularly blessed to have amongst her countless many friends, Virginia Jones (Lake Lotawana, MO) with whom she had an eighty three year friendship (since age five) and remained in close compassionate contact her entire life.
With her husband Riley of sixty-two years, she lived in Leawood, Kansas since 1950. Lora Lee was active in many Leawood civic groups over her lifetime and fondly remembered the ?Leawoodites? Dance Club from early in Leawood?s history, Leawood PTA and the Leawood Country Club where she and Riley were charter members (#91). With her husband, Lora Lee participated in many Builders Association of Kansas City functions over her 88 years and fondly remembers all the wonderful families of the Kansas City construction community. In recent years, with her husband Riley, she has had additionally strong fellowship with the Leawood Lion?s Club member wives and has enjoyed supporting their great civic contributions.
Mommy ?K? was known to all for her effervescent positive outlook, an encourager of conviction to all family members and a strong will in all things undertaken. Her social grace, poise and authenticity in relationships with others was without equal. Lora Lee has left her mark on Leawood, Kansas City and Olathe and on the hearts of all those with whom she came in contact with.
Visitation will be from 6:00 ? 8:00 PM. Friday, August 31st at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 1st at the chapel. Burial will immediately follow the Funeral Services and will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd., KC, MO 64131. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Leawood Lion?s Club.
