Lola G. Dews, 98, of Leawood, KS, passed away on November 7, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Lola was born July 20, 1914 in Pangburn, Arkansas to Jack and Artie (Walls) Gregory. She was the wife of the late, Jess Dews, who passed away in 1999. Lola owned and operated Lola Dews Hairdressing Salon on the Plaza for 12 years; she was a member of Village Presbyterian Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Lola and Jess were active in several dinner and dance groups and they took dance instruction from Jerry and LeRoy Walters. They loved to dance and were often called "The best ballroom dance couple in the city."
Survivors include her nephew, Jim Campbell, of Coos Bay, Oregon, a niece, Peggy Purkiss of Maumelle, Arkansas, and Shelly and Sydney Siler of Maumelle, Arkansas. Lola is also remembered by special friends and caregivers, Marilyn Sandnes of Lee's Summit, MO, Beth and Dennis Hendrickson of Overland Park, KS, Kelli Pendleton of Overland Park, KS.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 12th, 10:00 AM, at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kansas 66208. Graveside Services will be private at Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie, KS. The family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
