Leroy L. Robb, 96, of Mission, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007. Memorial services will be at Old Mission United Methodist Church, Shawnee Mission Parkway & Mission Road in Fairway, KS at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 2nd. A reception will follow the service at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
He was born in Decatur, Arkansas on December 16, 1910. Leroy left his farming community to come to Kansas City at the age of 19. Leroy found a successful career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, where he qualified for their National Quality Award for 30 consecutive years and the Leaders Conference 34 times. He retired from Metropolitan Life in 1975, and subsequently received the prestigious Ecker Outstanding Veteran Award for the time he devoted to the company?s association of active and retired employees.
In addition to his involvement in MetLife, Leroy has been an active citizen in his community. He served as a member of the Shawnee Mission Hospital advisory board. He held every office in the Milhaven Homes Association. Leroy served on several local, state, and national boards of the United Methodist Church. He and his wife have been members of Old Mission United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a member of the Mission Kiwanis, which he helped organize, and he acted as president of that group two times.
Leroy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a wonderful role model for his family, exemplifying all the good qualities of a great and loving man. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. He leaves behind his wife, Nellie, of 68 years, two sons, Bruce and wife Lois, of Stanley, Kansas, and Kenneth and wife Ann, of Albany, New York. He had four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He leaves his sister, Mary Agnes Robb of Lenexa, and his brother, Eldon Robb of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Leroy had a sense of humor and a warm personality that won the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered and loved as a man who made an impact on his community, his friends, and his family.
