KENNETH M. “KEN” PEPIN
Kenneth M. “Ken” Pepin, 73, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS with a graveside service following at 3 p.m. at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the K-State Veterinary School or Animal Haven animal shelter (Merriam, Ks).
Ken was born April 20, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN to Malbern A. and Florence (Bixby) Pepin. He graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1956 and attended the University of Kansas. Ken worked with the Kansas City Royals from 1973-2004 primarily on their water display. He was an avid amateur radio operator—his call letters were: W0UKL—and was associated with various radio clubs throughout the years. He loved to build and fly model airplanes, build & repair computers, as well as other interests too numerous to mention. Ken married Judy Davis July 10, 1965 in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Stanley E. Hansen; and a son Todd M. Pepin. Survivors include his wife Judy Pepin of 45 years; his children: Tina (Brian) Patrick, Teri Pizarro; grandchildren: Joshua & Katelyn Patrick; and Andrew & Taylor Kroll.
