Kenneth Jackson

Kenneth Jackson, 88, passed away at the Lakeview Village Care Center in Lenexa, KS, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He is survived by his son, Ron Jackson of San Antonio, TX, his two daughters, Lorie Sjostrom and Marcia Kerwin, both of Overland Park, KS, his sister Margaret Gott of Lexington, MO, his brother Larry Jackson of Des Moines, IA, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Ken was born on June 11, 1920, in Coffeeville, KS, where he lived until leaving for Baker University in Baldwin City, KS. There he met his wife Corinne (Nichols) from Kansas City, MO. They were married on November 14, 1942, and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. After graduating from Baker in 1942, Ken served as a member of the 1st Marine Division in combat in the Pacific during World War II. He remained a proud Marine for the rest of his life. After the war, he joined the Real Estate Division of the Prudential Insurance Company, and as he advanced in the company, he and Corinne and the children moved often to different Prudential offices, including San Antonio, TX, Minneapolis, MN, and finally to the corporate headquarters in Newark, NJ. After Ken retired in 1980, Ken and Corinne moved south and enjoyed a leisurely life in Lakeway, TX, outside Austin. When Corinne passed away in 1999, Ken moved to Lakeview Village in Lenexa.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. A reception will follow at the chapel. He will be interred with his wife Corinne in Lakeway, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Disabled American Veterans.
