Kathryn A. Newsom, 82, of Prairie Village, KS died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Springfield, MO. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 23 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. Visitation will be from 2-3:00 PM at the chapel, prior to the service. Burial at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 24 in Rosehill Cemetery, Brookfield, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Kathryn was born on June 17, 1925 in Brookfield, MO to Clyde and Gladys Cassidy. She was a graduate of Brookfield High School. Kathryn was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association and until recently had been actively involved with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert R. Newsom; brothers, Clyde Cassidy and John Cassidy.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Mary Newsom; grandchildren, Craig Newsom, Amy Newsom-Leblanc; great grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Audrey and Amelie; her sister, Sheila Lewallen.
