Kathleen (Kathi) Marcella Swartz, 63, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008 in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 11 with a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00PM, prior to the service at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, Inc., 3901 Martha Truman Rd., Grandview, MO 64030.
Kathi was a Master Stylist by trade and former beauty school owner. She most recently worked at the Aspen Spa and Salon in Stanley, Kansas. She was an incredibly talented artist, excellent seamstress and avid photographer. She loved playing cards and games with her family, especially her grandchildren, and spending as much time as she could with her family.
Kathi was born in Hays, Kansas. She is survived by her husband, Rex G. Swartz, Sr. of Overland Park; her mother, Floretta Otstott of Tribune, KS; sons, Leland Green (Michelle) of Wichita, KS, Lance Green (Melissa) of Rose Hill, KS and Rex Swartz (Brittney) of Prairie Village, KS; daughters, Lori Hinnen (David) of Towanda, KS and Lynn Sweeney (Stuart) of Linwood, KS; brother, Kurtis Kern (Susan) of Weston, MO; sisters, Mary Jo Loper (Robin) of Overland Park, KS, Ginger Egbert (Roger) of Marietta, GA and Michele Kern of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Adrianna and Nate Green, Maggie and Oscar Swartz, Matthew Jorgensen, Anita, Amanda and A.J. Hinnen, Jacob, Andrew and Libby Sweeney. Kathi is also survived by her beloved pets, Biscuit, Max and Maddy.
