Karyn Sue Winstead Hoener, 67, of Leawood, KS, passed away on February 28, 2014 in her home.
Karyn was born on March 2, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Boyd and Bette Winstead. She was raised in Prairie Village and was a 1964 graduate of Shawnee Mission East. After high school she attended the University of Kansas, earning a BA in Education, and she taught first grade at Muncie Elementary School in Kansas City, KS. After the birth of her son, Karyn made the decision to stay home and raise her family. She was a long-time member of Village Presbyterian Church, where she was married in 1968. She was a KU fan and a dog lover, who loved spending time with family, friends and neighbors.
Karyn leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Richard, her son, Bradley and his wife, Kiki, and two grandchildren, Kailey and Max Hoener, of Rogers, AR.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 7th, 1:00 PM, in the chapel at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS. A Celebration of Karyn's life will be held immediately following the service at Indian Hills Country Club, 6847 Tomahawk Rd, Mission Hills, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite animal rescue organization.
