Eva Joyce Rohrer Molina, 83, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall Ave, Overland Park, KS; visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to The Kansas City Chorale, 5601 Wyandotte # 412, KCMO 64113 or First Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Peoria, Paola, KS 66071 or Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church Presbyterian Women.
Joyce was born March 16, 1928 in rural Abilene, KS to Milton and Eva Rohrer. She graduated Valedictorian from Dickinson County Community High School in 1946. She attended the University of Kansas on full academic scholarship, living in Miller Scholarship Hall. She earned a BA in Voice Performance and a degree in Music Education. While at KU she met Charles Molina and they were married in 1952 in Lawrence, Kansas.
She taught private voice lessons in Paola, KS, for 40 years. Joyce belonged to numerous organizations including her beloved PEO Chapter DQ of Paola and HA of Overland Park, KS; Federated Women's Organizations; Presbyterian Women. She held leadership positions in all of these organizations. She also worked with the Head Start Program for 20 plus years. Throughout her life she was a constant member of her church choirs.
Joyce was preceded in death by her brother Lyle Rohrer and sister Elaine Hassler. Survivors include her husband of 59 years Charles Molina; daughter Patrice Molina Sollenberger and husband Jay; son David Molina and wife Jacqui; grandchildren Brandon, Nathanael, Gabrielle, Anneliese, and Stephanie.
