A reception in her honor will be held at Johnny’s Tavern 119th & Metcalf following the burial, friends and family are welcome. Joyce was born Nov. 15, 1940. She was a housewife for over 56 years, and said, “a housewife never gets to retire.” There aren’t words to describe the extraordinary person we all loved. Her interests were so wide and varied over her lifetime. She once was an avid bowler, campfire girl leader, rode her beloved horses Starlight and Nutmeg, shot trap, rebuilt the transmission on her TR3, made jewelry as a silversmith, had her own ceramic studio, sewed her daughter’s wedding dress, acted in Children’s Community Theatre with Young Matron’s, knitted, crocheted and stitched countless needlepoint projects, played bridge, loved to garden, work in her yard and cook. She served on the American Royal, Great American and Keepers of the Fire BBQ committees for over 30 years collectively. She loved her BBQ family and the contribution she made to the success of these events. She was also an active member of the New Theatre Guild. She is survived by her husband, Brian “Tim” Jones; daughters, Robin Ray (Gene), DeAnna Basler and Tracy Manning (Mike). She loved her son-in-law’s as her own. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was an active grandmother, “Momo”, who was always there to help with them, watch their events and attend grandparent’s day. If you knew her, you would know this. She loved to brag about her family. She will be missed as well by Tim’s daughters, Gretchen Robinson (Tom) and Pam DaFonseca, deceased, (Mark); and their five children; and her brother, Joe Hodgson (Barbara). She is preceded in death by her late husband of 32 years, Thomas G. Devine. Her family and countless friends will forever remember her loyalty and tremendous love for us.
