Josephine Andrea Shawver, 89, died on April 29, 2014, in Shawnee, Kansas. She was born in Los Angeles on January 9, 1925, to Joseph and Nell Kirkham, and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1959 she married Frank L. Shawver and assumed the role of step-mother to his two young sons and teenage daughter. A career woman at Union Carbide when she inherited her new family, she helped them bridge a difficult time and continued to be a loving wife and mother throughout her life. Before retiring, Andrea spent many happy years working for the Nelson Trust at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Her survivors include step-children Tom (Nancy) Shawver, Vince (Marylynn) Shawver and Phyllis (Carl) Deane, sister Kathleen Page, nephew David (Donna) Schupp and niece Toni (Ed) Phillips, four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves her close friend Mary Beth Daigneaux and all the fine people at Overland Park Place.
