John "Jack" O'Neal

January 31, 1925 — March 26, 2015

John (Jack) was born January 31, 1925 in Blackwater, MO to Freeman and Adelle O'Neal. He served his country in the Navy during World War II for four years in the Pacific.  He married the girl of his dreams, Mildred Jean Noyes, on February 14, 1947. Jack went to the Kansas City Art Institute for four years. He spent more than 40 years in the Advertising and Graphic Arts business having his own art studio from 1961 to retirement.  After retiring Jack started painting classes at Asbury Methodist Church and at Aberdeen Village, both of which are still active today.  He donated many pictures for fundraisers at Asbury and many other worthy causes.

Jack and Mildred have actively attended Asbury since 1956, where he was the first Lay Leader – then District Lay Leader.

Jack was preceded in death by his son, John Patrick O'Neal and his granddaughter, Julie Ann O'Neal. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, son, Michael (Janet), grandsons Judd (Anne) and John (Paige), 5 great grandchildren, Scarlett, Declan, Ivy, Carter, and Grayson, sister Joyce Kochersperger and several nieces and nephews. He was a very kind, gentle man, a loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed.

Please no flowers, the family would ask you consider giving to The Alzheimers Association,  Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or Asbury Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, March 30 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Asbury Methodist Church, 75th & Nall,  with the service starting at 11:00 a.m..  Reception will follow immediately after at the church.  Please offer condolences at www.overlandparkchapel.com.
