John passed away at home January 6, 2011 of a heart attack at the young age of 53. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 15th, at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS, in the Wesley Covenant Chapel.
Born June 23, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri son of Ann Warner McClelland and John Overfield McClelland. John grew up in Prairie Village attending Highlands Elementary School, Indian Hills JR High and Shawnee Mission East, Class of 1975.
In his journey, he traveled the country learning many life’s lessons, teaching a few along the way. He made many great friendships and treasured those he found throughout his childhood. He is remembered for his great laugh, mischievous smile and that twinkle in his eye. He had an intense passion for golf, hot air ballooning, NASCAR and Reggae, Bob Marley to be exact! John spent his life helping people, expecting little in return. He had the most caring soul, always putting others before himself.
