John G. Marshall, 96, of Kansas City, Kan., passed away September 20, 2009, at Galway Homes. He was an Amateur Radio (Ham) Radio Operator and a long time member of the Kansas City DX Club, Quarter Century Wireless Association, the American Radio Relay League and a founder member of the Heart of American Radio Club. As WOJM, he had contacted virtually every country in the world (well over 300) using Morse code (the original form of digital communications) and voice. Much of his career was as a bus driver for the Kansas City Public Service Company. He told many stories of his experiences; including the story of the time he drag raced (and won) a young driver while he was driving one of the propane powered buses. During World War II, John taught Morse code to hundreds of young servicemen. Johnny will be missed by his thousands of friends all over the world. The last thing he would say to all was "Goodbye Please." Fond memories and condolences at www.dwnewcomers.com Arr.: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, (913) 648-6224.
