John E. Grauberger, Sr., 94, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at his home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at St. Agnes Catholic Church where he was a member for many years; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Catholic Community Hospice.
John was a WWII Army veteran, and 80 year veteran with the Boy Scouts of America. He was the founding leader of Troop # 195 at St. Agnes Catholic Church and served in many capacities with H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp and Camp Nash. John retired from South Western Bell after 36 years of service, and his favorite past time was hunting and fishing with family. He married Josephine L. Geier July 1, 1939. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Josephine L. Grauberger; 5 children: Mary Jo Lane, John Grauberger, Jr., Carol Buczek, Kathy Kearns, Tom Grauberger; a brother, Fred Grauberger, 96; 14 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
