Joanne Kathryn Cochran, 76, of Merriam, Kansas passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 at home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 24 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the chapel. Burial in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Salvation Army.
Joanne was born March 11, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents, Arthur and Charlotte Laird. In 1949, she graduated from Westport High School and soon after was married to John W. Cochran, her husband of 58 years. She was the owner of Window Flair Drapery, Inc. since 1969. Joanne had a passion for ballroom dancing which was apparent throughout her many years of instructing.
She is survived by husband, John W. Cochran; son, John A. Cochran and his wife, Michelle; daughter, Judy George; grandchildren, Kelly, Ben, Kenny, David, and Deanna.
