Joan Planchon, who loved her family and her God, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 and went home to be with the Lord.
Joan and her loving husband of 59 years, George Planchon, lived in Prairie Village, Kansas. George retired from the FAA and remains active in their church and family. Joan was a loving wife and mother who steadfastly loved God. She actively pursued her remarkable talents of sewing, knitting and crocheting until her last day at home.
Joan was born in Kansas City on August 16, 1929 to parents Harry and Dorothy Jagodnigg, both of who predeceased her. She is survived by her husband and best friend, George Planchon of Prairie Village, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law James and Pamela Planchon of Lenexa, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Cynthia Planchon of Roeland Park, Kansas; and grandchildren, David and wife Vanessa Planchon of Overland Park, Kansas; Jenelle Planchon of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Mallory Planchon of Overland Park, Kansas.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Visitation will be held at the chapel on Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, 2400 Troost, Suite 4300, KC, MO 64108. We are blessed to know Joan is in peace, wrapped in the love of Jesus in the Kingdom of God.
