Mrs. Joan Mehl
September 11, 1936 — January 4, 2010
Joan Frances Mehl (Aberer) passed away on January 4, 2010 after 8 years of courageously fighting cancer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7 from 6-8 pm at the D.W. Newcomer’s Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8 at 2:30 pm at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 7023 W. 71st St., Shawnee Mission, KS. A private family burial will take place on Saturday, January 9 at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Community Hospice or the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.
Joan was preceded in death by daughter Janet, her parents Leo and Ann Aberer. She is survived by her husband Paul Mehl of Overland Park, KS, sister Doris Sante & husband Phillip of Florissant, MO, brother Roger Aberer of Roeland Park, KS, son Stephen Mehl & wife Sharon of Shawnee, KS, son Christopher Mehl & wife Sandra of St. Charles, IL, daughter Joyce Patterson & husband Sean of Merriam, KS, and daughter Julie McCabe & husband Dan of Overland Park, KS. Grandchildren Kate, Beth, Scott, Anthony, Brian, Lauren, Daniel, Connor, Molly, Marin, and step grandchildren, Austin, Sean & Patrick.
Joan spent her life raising 5 children and watching them with pride grow into wonderful adults. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and kept her going as long as she did. She is much loved and will be greatly missed.
