Janet Louise Hinz, age 55, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 31st at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 P.M. on Monday, March 30th at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS with Rosary Recitation at 6:30 P.M. The family suggests memorial contributions to Animal Haven, 9800 W. 67th Street, Merriam, KS 66203.
Janet was born on January 17, 1954 in Kansas City, KS. She attended grade school at Queen of the Holy Rosary and graduated from high school at Bishop Miege. Janet was President, along with co-owner and operator of Lawn Magic from 1976-2008. She enjoyed, friends, family and going to their lake home at the Lake of the Ozarks. She was an awesome softball player. Janet married J.B. Hinz on May 31, 1980 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl T. McCarty; her sister, Dr. Jeanne Marie Gibbs; sister, Joan Annette Hess; and her mother-in-law, Betty Hinz. Survivors include her husband, J.B. Hinz of the home; mother, Marie McCarty, Overland Park, KS; brothers, Jack Gibbs, Prairie Village, KS, Richard Gibbs, Tucson, AZ and Jim McCarty, Overland Park, KS; sister, Dr. Susan Bearce, Overland Park, KS; brothers-in-law, Joseph H. Brewster, New Freedom, PA, Robert M. Hinz, Jr., Kona, HI and William Bruce Hinz, Olathe, KS and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
