Jane Tinnin

July 2, 1939 — July 31, 2016

Jane Elise Tinnin, 77, of Overland Park, KS, passed away at home surrounded by family on July 31, 2016.  Jane was born July 2, 1939 in Topeka, Kansas to Charles and Marie Tietgen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Chuck Tietgen Jr.

Jane is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph Tinnin, her 3 children, John Tinnin and wife Audra, Annalisa Jones and husband Scott, and David Tinnin and wife Hope; and 5 grandchildren, Ivy, Emma and Sophie Tinnin and Cameron and Kaitlyn Jones. Also surviving is Jane's sister MaryAnn Cook.

She graduated from Baker University with a degree in Music Education in 1961 and taught vocal music at Nallwood Jr High from 1961 to 1966, substituting until 1970.  She then committed herself to raising her three children as a full time mother and worked side by side with Ralph in their many business adventures.  Some of these adventures included traveling to England with Ralph to search for antiques to fill their showroom and opening a tropical plant store, Greenleaves.

She had a passion for music and was a lifelong member of the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church.
One of Jane’s strongest attributes was her smile and infectious personality.  She kept strong relationships with people like her Baker University friends by attending monthly luncheons since graduation.

Jane lived with MS for over 45 years, her strong faith in God allowed her to keep a positive outlook on life. Her unconditional love and gratitude for the simplest of things were apparent to all who knew her. Jane enjoyed travelling despite her challenges later in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, listening to classical music, reading, working crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.

Funeral services for Jane will be held on Saturday, August 6th at Trinity Lutheran Church 5601 W 62nd St, Mission KS. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM.
