Our loving husband, father, and grandfather went home to his heavenly Father on April 20, 2012. At his side were his wife of 44 years, Susie, children Candy Mulcahy, Mark Shadowen, and Melinda Carter, and grandchildren Sean Mulcahy, Colin Hayes and Dani Carter. Jim was born in Indiana, and dutifully served in the Navy. After the Navy he graduated from Indiana University and began a successful career in the retail textile industry. Jim was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Ararat Shrine, a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters. He played the trumpet throughout his life with jazz bands, Dixieland music with the Ararat Rockets, and with various other artists who loved and appreciated making music. Jim also loved gardening and being outdoors, hiking in Arizona where he and Susie vacationed at a home there frequently, and spending time fellowshipping with family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Lois Algueseva, and niece Abigail Fimmen. He is preceded in death by his daughter Denise Stauffer, parents Christian and Hazel Stauffer. The family wishes to thank the staff at Shawnee Mission Medical Center for the superb medical care given to Jim during his recent hospitalizations. Their service is a testament to the Christian Mission of the medical team. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, KS, or to the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout , MO. A memorial service in Celebration of Life will be held on Wed. April 25, 2 p.m. at the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village KS in the sanctuary, with refreshments to follow in Fellowship Hall.
