James “Vick” Shea, 84, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park, Overland Park, Kansas.
James was born October 7, 1925 in Kansas City Missouri to Thomas and June Shea. Vick served as a medic in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Europe and North Africa during World War II. He also served his country during the Korean War. Vick married June LaBonté in 1950, and celebrated 45 years of marriage together. They were blessed with 4 children. Vick graduated from the University of Kansas in 1950.
Vick was preceded in death by his wife, June LaBonté, 4 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include his sister Helen Pfister; his children, Mary King, Kathy Higbee, Jim Shea, and Mike Shea; their spouses; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00p.m., Friday, February 26th, with a rosary at 7:00p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00a.m. Saturday February 27th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 West 103rd Street, Overland Park, KS 66214, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
