JAMES E. POHRER
James E. Pohrer died suddenly March 10, 2011. He was born February 28, 1934, in St. Louis, the only child of Edwin & Alice Gould Pohrer. He was educated in the Catholic school system and graduated from St. Louis University. He served in the United State Army in the military intelligence division and was stationed in Fort Halabird.
He then completed his MBA at St. Louis University and taught business classes before leaving to work for the city of St. Louis to secure new business for St. Louis.
Jim came to Kansas City in 1963 to work in the banking industry and later opened his own firm James E. Pohrer Associates, Inc. He spent his life in commercial real estate.
He married Fran Thompson on September 21, 1968, who preceded him in death, February 10, 1994. He leaves his loving daughter Cori Porher and faithful dog Fiona of the home, his sister-in-law Sueleal Kramer and family of Dayton, Ohio, his cousins and family of St. Louis, and his special friend Kaye Miller and family.
Jim was the kindest person and always spoke the best of everyone.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
