JAMES JOSEPH LUTZ
James Joseph Lutz, 59, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 at the Community Christian Church, 4601 Main, KCMO, with a visitation prior from 10-11 a.m. The family suggests contributions to the Johnson County Library Foundation, or MS 150, or Grand Avenue Temple (a women’s shelter).
Jim was born May 27, 1951 in Omaha, NE to Finton and Catherine Lutz. Jim graduated from Cathedral High School (Omaha, NE) in 1969. He later received his Bachelor’s degree in 1973 from the University of Nebraska, and his Law degree from UMKC in 1980. Jim married Mary Tesdall in 1978. He worked as an estate planning attorney for Lewis, Rice and Fingersh and became a partner in 1990. Jim was a member of the Missouri and Kansas Bar Assn. He was an avid reader, world traveler, a member of the Community Christian Church, a member of a book club for 25 plus years, and an acting member of the YMCA and the Johnson County Library boards. Loved by many and known as “JimPa,” his enthusiasm for life and positive attitude will be greatly missed. Jim enjoyed the simple things in life such as reading, cooking, working outside, riding his bike, spending time at the lake house, and being with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1977 and his first wife Mary in 1996. Survivors include his wife, Deanna Lutz; children: Gina, Peter and Joey Lutz; step children: Callie Weitzel and her husband, Neal, Breanna Farnum; granddaughter, Addison Weitzel; brother, Charles and sisters Mary and Margie; plus many nieces and nephews and friends.
