JAMES J. KREUZBERGER
James J. Kreuzberger, 95, died peacefully December 13, 2010. Visitation will be Friday, December 17 from 10:30-11:30 at Valley View United Methodist Church, 8412 W 95th St., Overland Park. The service will follow at 11:30.
Jim was born in Duluth, Minnesota on 12/25/14 to Ida (Podoll) and John Kreuzberger. During WWII, he served in the Army Signal Corp at Guadacanal and was with the first occupational troops in Japan. He retired as a major from the Army Reserves after serving more than 20 years.
Prior to the military, Jim worked for Western Auto in Duluth and returned to the company after the war. Forty three years later he retired from Western Auto in Kansas City.
Jim married Doris Westerman in 1956 and she survives. Two children also mourn him, his son, Jim Kreuzberger of Overland Park, and daughter, Cindy Craft (Daryl) of Lawrence. He is also survived by son-in-law Britt Elam of Overland Park and sister Helen Bluhm of Minnesota. Jim had six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his youngest child, Jane Elam, and his twin sisters, Dorothy and Doris.
Jim was active at Valley View United Methodist Church and especially dedicated to the choir. He started singing in church choirs as a teenager and continued until recently. He also enjoyed model railroading, volunteering, and traveling.
