James T. Hrones, 88, of Roeland Park, Kan., passed away Monday, November 24, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church, 8100 W. 95th St., Overland Park, Kan. Burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park. Jim was born on Nov. 18, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated Argentine High School in 1938 and following graduation he served in the Army during WWII. On April 27, 1947, Jim married Catherine Gatzoulis. Jim was employed by Procter and Gamble for over 35 years. As a very active member and past president of St. Dionysios Church, he never missed a Sunday service. The light of his life was his grandson, Gregory Otey, and enjoyed watching his sporting events and would frequently spend time together. Jim leaves a legacy of faith and love to all who knew him. Jim is survived by his daughter, Karen Otey and grandson, Gregory Otey of Overland Park; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Hrones in April 2007; son, Tom Hrones; grandson, Grant Otey; brother, George Hrones; sisters, Jennie Menos, Ann Mills and Lula Xarhis.
