James R. (Bill) Fisher, a lifelong resident of Kansas City, passed away on January 22, 2010. He was born October 28, 1916, in Denver, Colorado, to Charles Vincent Fisher and Blanch Campbell Hunter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Catherine Knaub Fisher, his sisters Katherine Elizabeth Satterlee and Dorothy Mildred Snyder, and his brother Charles Vincent Fisher II. He is survived by his children, Katherine Fisher Grabill of Bernardsville, New Jersey, James Richard (Bill) Fisher II of Dallas, Texas, Robin Fisher of Houston, Texas, and John Steele Fisher MD of Belleair, Florida, and his eleven grandchildren. Bill was a graduate of Pembroke Country Day School and was a Major in the United States Air Force during WWII. After owning several companies in Kansas City he retired from AT&T in 2000. Bill was a devoted father who delighted in his children and grandchildren. He was a mentor to many and will be remembered for his ability to inspire others, his infectious laughter and dry wit. A viewing will be held on Thursday Jan. 28, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomers Sons, Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalfe Ave. Services will be held at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 415 West 13th Street, Kansas City, MO, on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Continua Hospice.
