Irene G. Smith, 94, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS; burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18th at the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward and Ida Mae Anderson; her husband, George Smith, Sr. ; a brother, Robert Anderson; sisters: Florence Knight, Ethel Beck, and Gayle Burris. Survivors include her son, George (Shirley) Smith, Jr.; a daughter, Donna (James) Vatcher; a sister, Ruth Ryan; grandchildren: Daniel Smith, Robert (Brandy) Smith, Jennifer Smith, Debbie (Jim) Donahue, Diane Vatcher, Julie (Keith) Botts, Janice (Mark) Santanicito; 7 great grandchildren; and a special friend, Harlan Long.
