HILDEGARD G. DANIEL
Hildegard G. Daniel, born July 14, 1917 at Montrose, MO to Louis and Elizabeth (Dieker) Guenther, passed away April 13, 2011 in Overland Park, Kansas.
After graduating from high school in Montrose, Hildegard moved to Kansas City, MO where she attended the Kansas City Art Institute studying design. She worked as a buyer at Berkson's department store and later at Harzfeld's. She married Robert Phelan who passed away in 1963. Years later, she married Jack Daniel and they made their home in Overland Park, KS. Jack passed away in 1983. Hildegard later found a wonderful companion and friend in Bill Egelhoff who passed away in 2006.
Hildegard was proud to be a breast cancer survivor. She was a member of Cure' of Ars Church in Leawood, the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Ladies of Charity. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph's hospital for over 30 years until her health began failing in November, 2010. She loved entertaining and was always a gracious hostess to family and friends. She was a talented seamstress, designing and sewing many of her own
clothes. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a big Chiefs fan.
Hildegard was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elizabeth, her husbands, Robert and Jack, her companion Bill, brother Alphonse Guenther, sisters Nell Grant, Catherine Wagner, Rose Wagner and several nieces and
nephews. She is survived by her sister Gertrude Kelley of Anaheim, CA., her longtime friend Libby O'Hearn, her many nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am April 18,2011 at Cure' of Ars Church 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS. Private burial. Visitation from 9:15 at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cure' of Ars Church.
