Henry "Joe" Joseph Blauw, Jr., 88, of Leawood, KS passed away on May 15, 2013.
Joe was born October 30, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Henry Joseph Blauw, Sr. and Margaret (Arnold) Blauw.
Joe graduated from Central High School in 1941 at the age of 16 and continued his education to receive a Bachelors degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Joe was in the U.S. Navy V-12 program during World War II. He was also a member of the DeMolay Legion of Honor.
Joe worked in Accounting for Sheffield Steel (Armco) for 26 years, however his real passion was his love of music! He was a gifted pianist who enjoyed playing in Dance bands and Dixieland groups. In his early years, he had his own band; he billed himself as "Joe Blauw and his Orchestra" in the local communities. Joe was a member of the Musician's Union for over 60 years.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth (Smith) Blauw, his son, Walter Arnold Blauw of Laguna Niguel, CA, his brother, Jerrold Ross Blauw of Indianapolis, IN.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Henry Joseph Blauw, Sr. and Margaret Arnold Blauw, as well as his brother, John Arnold Blauw.
Interment will be private at Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
