Helen W. Huitt, 97, of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be held Friday, February 6th from 6 -8 PM at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 7th at Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall, Mission, KS 66202. Private burial services in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. Mrs. Huitt was born January 7, 1912 in Kansas City, KS. She was an active member of Countryside Christian Church where she served as church secretary for 13 years and was also a long time member of the church’s Christian Woman’s Fellowship. Helen was a avid gardener and a member of the West Garden Club. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, but most importantly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her first husband Cleon Sanders, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her husband Dena Huitt, children Jeri Lynn Bilotta and Thomas Sanders and wife Marguerite, step-daughter Paula Manley and husband Ken, 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Arrangements: D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, OP, KS 66204. 913-648-6224.
