Hazel West Hoener, 95, passed away at Brighton Gardens on January 4, 2015. She was born December 25, 1919 in Steelville, MO to Frank and Eva West. In 1942, she married Fred Hoener in St. Louis, and they moved to Prairie Village in 1948. They were married for 57 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen and husband Fred.
“Hayes” loved family, gardening, reading, Florida beaches and was a talented seamstress and knitter. She and Fred were some of the earliest members of the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village. They enjoyed golfing at Milburn Country Club with friends.
Hayes is survived by her sister, Jean Ohlhausen of Weatherby Lake and brother, Willard West of Steelville. She is also survived by her daughter, Pat Muller of Prairie Village and son Richard Hoener of Leawood, as well as 4 grandchildren, Laura, Rich (wife Nicole) and Steve Muller (wife Kristen) and Brad Hoener (wife Kiki). She was the proud great-grandmother of 8, William, Amy, Jack, Megan, Michael and Jane Muller of Leawood, and Kailey and Max Hoener of Rogers, Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Village Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS, on Friday, January 16, 2015, at 1:00pm.
