Harry Leslie Callahan, age 86, of Leawood, Kan. Passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. Tuesday January 5th at D.W. Newcomer’s Overland Park Chapel with a visitation prior from 10:30-11:00a.m. Burial to follow at Forest Hill and Calvary Cemeteries. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Colonial Church of Prairie Village, Kan.
Harry was born January 11, 1923 in Kansas City, MO to Benjamin Franklin Callahan and Myrtle L. Anderson Callahan, who preceded him in death.
He married “the most beautiful woman in the world” Venita “June” Yohn December 16, 1944. Harry was preceded in death by June on September 28, 2009. He was a very devoted and loving husband.
Harry served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Black & Veatch in 1993 as a Civil Engineer.
Survivors include his oldest son Michael T. Callahan and his wife Sue; daughter Maureen C. Daniels and husband William and youngest son Kevin L. Callahan and his wife Susan. Also surviving is his brother Frank L. Callahan of Cave Creek, AZ; six grandchildren , a great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews.
