Harper Tucker

June 7, 1920 — March 12, 2010

Harper H. Tucker, known to most as “Tucker” died at his home in Prairie Village, KS on March 12, 2010. He was born June 7, 1920 in Cowgill, MO to Laura and Howard Tucker. He served in the US Navy during WWII.
Harper married Belva Patch February 2, 1947 and they soon moved to Prairie Village to begin their family. Harper was employed in the restaurant business all of his life with the majority of his career with Patch’s Restaurant and retired from Rose Restaurant Supply.
Harper enjoyed involvement with his children, often piling the neighborhood kids in his truck and spending the day with them at his farm. He managed Patch’s Restaurant girl’s softball team for many years. Harper was a long time member of the Village Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, usher, and Food Pantry volunteer.
His hobbies included gardening, cooking, feeding the birds, fishing, serving his many neighborhood friends, and numerous adventures with “the Sunday Morning Breakfast Group.” Tucker took great delight in teaching friends and family to fly fish and garden. Tucker derived much comfort and companionship from the family dogs and cat.
Harper was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carl Tucker, Gertrude Tucker Rupp and Katherine Tucker Bell. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Carol Tucker, son Larry Tucker and his wife Susan Tucker. He also leaves behind Edith and James Hultman, niece and nephews Debbie Domingo, John Hultman and Jim Hultman.
A memorial service will be held at Village Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 11:00a.m. followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
