Grace Stout

Grace Evelyn Shanks Stout, 95, of Overland Park, KS passed away April 1, 2022.  She was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Barnsville, Missouri to Eva Belle & Edgar E. Shanks.  She was one of seven children all of whom have preceded her.

After graduating from Kidder High School at 16 years old, she moved to Kansas City, MO on her own, finding a job and a roommate.  On December 23, 1947 she married Evert A. Stout who passed away in 1978.  She worked at Black Sivalls & Bryson 1947-1964, then Continental Disc until retiring in 1991.  Her career started as a secretary, ending as an office manager.

Evelyn’s interests were reading, traveling, cooking and gardening.  She was an excellent cook who loved to entertain, but her passion was bridge.

Evelyn was devoted to family and friends and leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was a strong independent, loving woman who will be dearly missed.  Graveside services for family at Forest Hills Cemetery.
