Glenn E. Weagley, age 84, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 in Kansas City, MO. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 14 at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church 6630 Nall Ave. Mission, KS 66202. Burial New Hope Cemetery, Liberty, MO. Visitation 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, May 13 at DW Newcomers Son’s Overland Park Chapel 8201 Metcalf Ave. Overland Park, KS 66204.
Glenn Edward Weagley was born near Liberty, MO, in Clay County in 1925, Jan. 31. He had lived in this area his entire life. Glenn graduated from Liberty High School and attended William Jewell College. He was a lover of nature and was a member of the Audabon Society and the American Wildlife Association.
Glenn served in the United States Navy during WWII and served in the inactive reserves for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He worked in wholesale credit for over 30 years, retiring from Farmland Industries as a wholesale credit administrator after 23 years.
In 1993 he married Shirlie Sly of Overland Park, KS. Glenn was an active member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Mission ,Kansas where he served as an usher for several years. He had delivered Meals on Wheels for Episcopal Community Services since 1997.
Glenn and Shirlie enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively in this country and abroad. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Shirlie, 1 nephew and 1 niece. Preferred memorials to the church.
