Glen Alfred Upton, age 73, of Lee's Summit, MO passed away July 10, 2012. Glen was born on November 8, 1938 in Eldon, MO and later moved to Kansas City – graduating from Central High School in 1957. He was a lifetime business entrepreneur; starting in the automotive body repair trade with his father Arthur Upon in the early 1960's. Glen's professional passion was working with automobiles. His early business endeavors included Karefree Karavans, First Stage Steel and the current local business Aeroform/Aerosport. Ford Mustangs held a special place in his heart – restoring numerous classics throughout the last fifteen years.
Everyone can appreciate the commitment and sacrifice that a business owner has to make throughout their life. But Glen never let those sacrifices affect his family life. A devoted husband and father, Glen worked his entire life to provide for his family and his employees. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret "Peggy" and four children: son Glen Arthur Upton (with wife Mary, of Raytown), daughter Sondra Upton of Independence, daughter Leah Upton of Kansas City and son Jeff Upton (with wife Pamela, of Lee's Summit). Glen is survived by six grandchildren: Mark Upton of Raytown, David Upton (with fiancé Alaina Zicarelli, of Blue Springs), Madison and Bryce Upton of Lee's Summit, Britany Upton of Raytown, Krystal Wilder of Kirbyville and Emily Mehaffey of Pricenton. Glen is survived also by seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Glen's life will be held on Sunday, July 22nd at The Savoy Grill (9th and Central - Kansas City MO) from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would request contributions to the Salvation Army, The American Red Cross or a charitable organization of the donor's choice.
