Services for Gerald Ray Humbert 63 of Overland Park will be 7 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 with a visitation prior from 5 – 7 p.m. at the
DW Newcomers Overland Park Chapel; burial 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wamego Cemetery, Wamego, KS.
Gerald was born Nov. 20, 1946 in Wamego, Kansas. Gerald passed away Sunday January 17th at St Luke’s Hospital in Marion, Kansas.
Gerald had retired after 45 years from Sosland Publishing Co where he was Director of Distribution. A Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. With the Boy Scouts of America, he served as camp master at Camp Naish, on the Eagle Scout Project Review Board, Scout Leader, Vigil in the Order of the Arrow, and Tribesman in Mic-O-Say. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Served as Commander of 2nd District of Kansas, Commander of VFW Post 846 Overland Park and most recently serving as State of Kansas Veterans Administration Veterans Service Officer for Leavenworth and Kansas City, MO VA Hospitals, and member of 40 and 8 of the American Legion.
He leaves behind Linda, his wife of 44 years, Sons: Gerald Jr and Marty, grandchildren Justin and Brittany Humbert and their mother Lynn Godding who has been instrumental in supporting the family. Mother

He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Sr and sister Tina Marie.
