Georgette, known as Getty, was born on February 3, 1914, in Omaha to Isabelle and George Johnston. She graduated from Brownell Hall School in Omaha and from Pine Manor Junior College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In 1936, she married Milton F. Barlow, also of Omaha. After living in Mankato, Minnesota, and Lincoln, Nebraska, they moved to Kansas City in 1948. Georgette had been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Colonial Dames of America. She also had been a volunteer for Planned Parenthood. Georgette was a member of the Kansas City Country Club. Georgette leaves a sister, Sarah Marshall of Omaha. She is survived by two of her three children: Sarah Barlow Fleming and husband James of London, England; and John F. Barlow and wife Judy of Prairie Village. Her elder son, Milton M. (Tony) Barlow died in 1999; his widow Priscilla Winn Barlow resides in Stonington, Connecticut. Georgette leaves fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a niece, a nephew, and a grand-niece. Georgette also leaves her caregiver and special friend Nedra Griffith, who has become an extended member of our family.
