George McPhillamy Seymour, 97, of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208. Private burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Village Presbyterian Church.
George was born July 6, 1911 in La Junta, CO to Kennett and Maude Seymour. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1932, he received a degree in Architectural Design from KU. He enjoyed a lifetime career as a salesman and worked various jobs, all connected to the railroad industry. He retired as President from George T. Cook, a railroad supply company, in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Harriet, in 1969; second wife, Margaret, in 1987. Survivors include step-daughter, Mary Margaret Moran and her husband, Kevin Moran; grandchildren, Louis, Ty, and Daniel Moran, all of Kansas City, MO; sister, Frances Jackson, of Colorado Springs, CO; one niece; one nephew; friends and caregivers who showed him much comfort in his final years, Harriet Manning, Emma Walls, Mary Simms, Tiffany Divelbiss, Elaine Nichols, and Clark Randall. George was a generous man who never hesitated to help friends in need. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
