George was born in Sommerville, Massachusetts on May 24, 1919. He graduated from high school in Portland, Maine in 1937 and from Boston University?s School of Management in 1941. He was a WWII Veteran serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps from May 1942 through September 1945. He was Bombing Officer with the 8th Air Forces in England from March 1944 to July 1945. After the war he returned to a sales position with the Burroughs Corp. in Boston, MA and New Haven, CT until 1953. He then joined the Addressograph-Multigraph Corp. in Boston and later transferred to the Washington, DC office where he handled government accounts throughout the country. In 1964 he moved to Sioux Falls, SD as sales manager and in 1972 was assigned to the company?s branch office in Kansas City, MO. He retired from the company in 1980 and later went with Kansas City Plastics. He married Ann Taylor Spalding on February 28, 1948 in Cambridge MA. He was an active member of Old Mission Masonic Lodge and its Master in 1979 and Secretary for 13 years. George was a member of the Abdallah Shrine and was the president of the Greeters Unit in 1984. He was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church and served on the church?s Administrative Board for several years. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jennifer Lawley and Jill Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Lawley, a son, David M. Lawley of Shawnee, a grandson, Ian Ford Anderson, Lee?s Summit; three nephews, four nieces, three grand nieces and five grand nephews.
