Mr. George Bailey

George W. (Hoot) Bailey passed away on March 30th at Lakeview Care Center, Lenexa Ks. George was a previous resident of Lake Quivira Ks. and spent over 20 winters at Foxfire in Naples, Fl. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Stewty, Lenexa, Ks, son Michael, Moorpark Ca. and daughter Missy (Jim) of Overland Park Ks. He has five grandchildren; Jack , Nick and Hannah Bailey and Michael and Annie Sullivan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, his parents and his sister. George was born in Little Rock AR on Sept 30th 1924. After graduating from Little Rock High School in 1943 he served in the US Navy until 1945. He then attended the University of Arkansas Hendrix College before graduating from San Jose State University in 1950 with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. He married Mary (Stewty) Nickelson on April 4, 1947. George enjoyed a successful and rewarding career at Hallmark Cards for over 40 years. George enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling throughout his life. The family would like to thank the amazingly kind and caring staff on the first floor at Lakeview Care Center for their love for George and support for his family. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Stroke Foundation or Cross-Lines Community Outreach. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 3rd at 11:00 at DW Newcomers Son’s Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, Ks. A reception will follow at the chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Little Rock, AR.
