Geneva Hague, a loving and selfless woman whose life was based on a deep faith in Jesus and dedicated to family and the care of others, passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2023 in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on July 2nd, 1929 in Mercer, Missouri. Geneva's life was filled with compassion, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones.
Geneva's entire life was committed to caring for ‘the least of these’. Having grown up on the farm in Missouri she married Max at the age of 16 who would become her lifelong love. Soon after they started a family and over the next number of years had their three eldest daughters, Nancy, Mary Louise and Marilyn. Sixteen years after their last daughter was born, they were called to a completely new journey. Over the next fifteen years they adopted six biracial babies; five boys and one little girl. She poured her heart and soul into raising not only her three biological children but also her six adopted children. Her love knew no bounds.
To help meet the needs of her ever expanding family Geneva took on the care of elderly individuals. She would at times have six or more residents living in the family home along with her growing number of kids. All this in addition to caring for her love, Max, who suffered his first heart attack at the age of 55 and continued to suffer under the weight of progressive cardiac problems, diabetes and ultimately Parkinson’s disease. To say that Geneva was a strong woman would be the understatement of a lifetime. She was incredibly strong and had a love for others as expansive as a midwestern sky. Family and caring for others meant everything to Geneva. Her legacy will forever be one of love, compassion and boundless generosity.
Geneva’s strength and resolve came from a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She took scripture at face value. When she read that her faith was dead without her caring for others, she set about the work of caring for the least of these. James 2, Matthew 19 & 25 Geneva's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly the raising of her family. Her unwavering dedication to their well-being and happiness will forever be remembered and cherished.
Geneva is survived by her loving children: Nancy Khatchadourian (Wadie-husband), Marilyn Cave (Bob-husband deceased), Tim Hague (Sheryl-wife), David Hague, Titus Hague, Daniel Hague (Paula-wife), Rebekah Crawford, and James Hague (Mary-wife). Along with numerous grandchildren spread across three generations. Her husband-Max, daughter-Mary Louise and her siblings preceded her in death.
Geneva Hague's memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched with her love and selflessness. Her legacy will serve as a reminder to us all to cherish our loved ones and to care for those in need. She will be deeply missed but forever held in the hearts of those who knew her for the extraordinary individual that she was.
