Gary L. Hines, 9/19/1948 – 7/2/2011 passed away July 2, 2011. A visitation will be from 2-4 PM, Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. Gary requested jeans and t-shirts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD 20785 or epilepsyfoundation.org. Gary was born in Wichita, Kansas and spent his recent years in Lenexa, Kansas. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He spent over 30 years as a Law Enforcement Officer and retired from the Mission Police Department in 2001. He loved to ride his motorcycle, especially with family and friends.
Gary died as he lived, with great dignity. A sweet soul that is survived by his wife, Bambi of 16 years; son, Shawn Hines and family; stepson, Brandon Loomis and family; brother, Carl Hines; and sister, Mable Behee.
Gary would like to say to his family and friends, when you think of me, please remember me with laughter and smiles, for this is the way I will always remember all of you. If you can only think of me with tears and sadness, it would be better not to remember me at all. With all my love, Gary.
