Freda Mary Johnson Brower, age 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, died the 10th of October, 2010. Friends may call between 1 and 1:30 p.m., October 16, at Newcomer’s Sons, 8201 Metcalf. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 at the same location. Memorial contributions may be made to her favorite charity, the Multiple Sclerosis Society.Mrs. Brower was born March 1, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up on a farm north of the city, near Barry Road. She was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend. In her prime she ran a busy household, tackled home improvement projects, and completed a certificate program in graphoanalysis. Always an avid reader, she wrote poetry and sold verse to Hallmark Cards. A music lover, she taught herself to play guitar and harmonica. She would play and sing country tunes for friends and family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Brower, and seven siblings. Survivors include her son David, daughter Sue and their spouses Karen and Mark; three grandchildren, Stacy, Brandon, and Anna, and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Logan.
