Frank E. Smith, 75, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 7, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House after a long illness. Frank was born in Lusk, Wyoming. After graduating from Chadron State College, Frank joined the US Marine Corps Reserve and served as a Captain in Okinawa and the Philippines. Following his service, Frank received an MS degree in math education from Notre Dame and taught at Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Frank and his family moved to the Kansas City area in the 1970’s where Frank was employed by North Supply Company as a systems analyst until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Christ Church Anglican where he served as an Alpha leader and chalice bearer. Frank was also a Benedictine Oblate associated with Mt. St. Scholastica in Atchinson, Kansas.
Frank is survived by his wife Bobbie, his sons Randy, Brian, and Tracy; stepsons Chris, Corey, and Brian Routh; grandchildren Brad, Nicholas, Kristin, Kevin, Laura, Erin, Collin, Connor and Cooper Smith, and Jon, Alex, Ryan, and Lidia Routh, and two great-grandchildren, Kai Smith and Austin Sands. He is also survived by brothers John, Chuck, Jim, and Doug Smith and sisters Clarabell Davis and Mary Shiley.
Memorial services for Frank will be at Christ Church Anglican, 5500 W. 91st Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66207 on Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
