FRANCES SCHLOESSER SIFERS
Frances Schloesser Sifers, 87, of Mission Hills, the daughter of Anna Lyon and Victor Schloesser passed away peacefully under the loving care of the her nurses at Aberdeen Village and with her daughter at her side on December, 14 2010.
A beautiful, intelligent, and wonderfully caring woman and mother, she was the devoted wife and partner of Earl C. 'Tuck' Sifers MD, the love of her life, who pre-deceased her on December 4, 2001. Raised in Fredonia, Kansas where she was valedictorian of her class, state debate champion, and the head drum majorette. A tomboy who matured to be one of the most elegant beauties (both inside and out) of her time. She attended University of Kansas where she graduated with honors in chemistry, and was a member of KKG sorority. Later she was President of the KKG Alumnae Association, and worked tirelessly for the Kappa Holiday House Tour where she began the concept of the Gourmet Kitchen for the tour. Most of the food for the tour's shop was baked in her kitchen with a small committee. She spent many years performing in the KC KS Junior League Theater for Young Audiences where many times her deep alto voice landed her in the male lead. A brilliant woman with a thirst for knowledge she enjoyed her ATC study group in her adult years. Charitable work was her passion and among the myriad of charities her work on the Shepherd's Center board gave her the most satisfaction. The Meals on Wheels program, which delivered food to housebound senior citizens, was her most rewarding project. A Docent for the Nelson Atkins Museum, she excelled in everything she did from gourmet cooking, interior design, acting, gardening, volunteerism, and loving her family.
She is survived by her (3) children; Earl C 'Tuck' Sifers Jr of Stratford, CT, Ann S Bauer of Olathe, KS, and Sally S Hilkene of Mission Hills, KS, and her loving companion Arthur E. Fillmore. Francie was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy M Sifers MD on March 15, 2005, her sister, Pauline S. Young, and brother, Valle Schloesser. She also leaves 15 loving grandchildren - Tim Sifers; Susan Sifers; Brandon Sifers; Tray Sifers; Tyler Sifers; Jacob Sifers; Jaime Sifers; Jennifer Mandes; Julianne Sifers; Cullen Hilkene; Clancey Hilkene; Wyatt Hilkene; Francie Bauer; Dan Bauer; and Brent Bauer, 2 great grandchildren (Jackson and Connor Sifers children of Timothy and Allie Sifers) and a brother, Lee Schloesser MD. Francie met her future husband on a blind date while both attended KU and were married on December 22, 1945. The foundation of their 56 years of marriage, until Tuck's passing in 2001, was based on absolute true love, respect, and a deep devotion for one another. An amazing and blessed marriage, they were true soul-mates and wonderfully loving parents and grandparents. The funeral service will be private and the family requests donations to the Village Presbyterian Church, Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, and The Shepherd's Center.
