EVELYN LINEBACK “Margo” BLADES
Evelyn Lineback ("Margo") Blades passed away November 19, 2014, at her beloved home in Mission, KS. She was born September 7, 1919 in Texarkana, AR, but spent all of her early years in St. Louis. Her father pushed her into show business at a young age. She spent two summers performing as a member of the Hollywood Kiddies on the Vaudeville circuit in the mid-1920's. When the Depression hit her family hard, she earned extra money teaching tap dance and singing in nightclubs under the stage name "Margo".
She attended Millken University through a voice scholarship, but left to marry Eugene Blades in 1940. They moved to Houston, TX in 1942 and Margo worked for the Houston police department as a dispatcher during WWII. After the war, she and Gene opened one of the first Dairy Queen franchises in the US. Later they lived in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, PA before relocating to Kansas City in 1966. In the late 1960's she started a remarkable career in real estate, first with J. Lester Brown, then ReMax, and finally as a broker with Bob Bollier, Realtor. She was consistently ranked at or near the top of all Johnson County salespeople during her 25 year career. She retired in 1992 following the death of her husband.
She leaves behind her daughter Tanya Palmer (husband Les) of Prairie Village and her granddaughter Hillary Palmer of Kansas City. The family sincerely thanks her devoted caregiver for the last 5+ years, Lisa Ingelse, for her stellar service. Additionally, the recent caregiving of Earnestine, Kathy and Kim are forever appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation in Margo's honor to Great Plains SPCA or Grace Hospice
