After retirement she continued to be active as a volunteer for the True Light Family Resource Center (a women's shelter). She enjoyed making friends and doing many activities at the Paul Henson YMCA. Evelyn is survived by two daughters: Evangeline DuBay (Lawrence) and Verna Heavner (Herb). Four grandchildren: Amelia Benefiel (Tim), Lydia Gardner, Bruce Heavner (Dana) and Matthew Heavner; six great-grandchildren, Keegan, Jacky, Maverick, Louisa, Oscar and Nora Heavner.
